Leitersburg Cinemas seeks a dynamic sales professional with event planning experience to successful market/sell the highly effective on-screen advertising AND sell/plan group movie events/facility rental activities, including Dinner and a Movie events on a bi-monthly basis.

Job Description:

Sales of on-screen advertising – successful candidate will recruit new clients for the highly effective on-screen advertising options offered by Leitersburg Cinemas. KPIs will exist for monthly sales targets, weekly emails/phone calls and weekly meetings. Coordination with video production team at High Rock as needed and with Leitersburg Cinemas’ management for scheduling of advertiser’s on-screen advertising.

Sales/coordination of groups – successful candidate will recruit new and existing organizations for group movie events and coordinate all details with organization’s contact person. Group opportunities exist for school field trips, sports team/leagues, non-profit fundraisers, class reunions and birthday parties.

Sales/coordination of facility rental – successful candidate will recruit new and existing clients for special movie screenings, non-profit fundraisers, seminars, training workshops, business meetings and team building events. Leitersburg Cinemas can accommodate events for small groups (up to 36 people) in our VIP lounges equipped with audio/visual equipment or for large groups (up to 450 people) in our largest theater.

Sales/coordination of Dinner and a Movie events – coordination of bi-monthly Dinner and a Movie events open to the public, private Dinner and a Movie events and private Lunch and a Movie events. Successful candidate is expected to be on-site for events. Successful candidate will coordinate available movie selections with Leitersburg Cinemas’ management, coordinate with caterer on meal options/other details, setup event details for online ordering by customers, and coordinate ALL aspects of setting up/on-site logistics of Dinner and a Movie events.

TAM certification for serving alcohol is preferred. Some events will include the serving of beer, wine, etc. when applicable permits are available.

Additional Information:

Previous sales and marketing experience is preferred
Previous experience in event planning is preferred
Must be able to work independently and work in a team environment
Must be detailed oriented
Must have excellent communication skills, responding via phone and email quickly
Attendance required at all weekly management meetings (Mondays). Successful candidate will present upcoming group activities and facility rental events to management. Discussion of details.
Successful candidate will turn in a monthly sales report on or before the 5th of the following month
Successful candidate will report to Owner and Corporate Office Manager
Successful candidate will be given high-quality marketing materials, including brochures, business cards, etc.

This position is highly commission based.

Leitersburg Cinemas seeks a qualified caterer for Dinner and a Movie Events for the remainder of 2012.

Brief Description:

Dinner and a Movie events are held every other Saturday to general public.
Meals are served to guest’s theater seat, equipped with a tray and a small light.
Three different movies are typically offered during Dinner and a Movie events in our VIP lounges #6 (32 seats), #7 (32 seats) and #1 (96 seats). Please note, theater #1 will include 58 seats beginning on 2/1/12. The remaining seats will be added later in the year upon demand.
Showtimes are typically 5:00 PM, 5:20 PM and 5:40 PM for Dinner and a Movie events.
Ticket ordering for guests is done online through Leitersburg Cinemas’ website or a third party website. Guests pre-order their entrée choice.
A final meal count and entrée selection is given to caterer no later than 10 AM the day of the event
Entrée choices selected by caterer should be meals that are easy to cut or stab (i.e. crab cakes).
(3) Entrees are typically offered for each event.
Caterer staging area is available at flat snack bar in the north lobby.
Dinner and a Movie events typically sell-out each week.
158 guests is considered a sell-out.

"Greencastle", Movie Shot in and Around Hagerstown Wins Film Festival Award in California; Film to Premiere to Public in Hagerstown March 31

"Greencastle" Movie Is Now An Award-Winning Film

Greencastle, PA - "Greencastle," a movie written, directed and staring Greencastle resident Koran Dunbar, has completed a world premier and its first festival competition in Idyllwild, CA.

Dunbar brought home the film's first award for Best Sound/Audio. The festival, about 2 hours southeast of Los Angeles, ran from January 12-15.

"Greencastle" is a quirky off beat faith-based drama about man’s search for meaning amidst the ache of despair. The story chronicles Poitier, a single father who works as an Assistant Manager at a small town pet shop, as he enters a "quarter-life crisis" impelled by a recent tragedy. Greencastle intertwines lives of loneliness and disconnection, fatefully leading Poitier toward an unexpected and sublime awakening.

"Our congratulations go out to John Avarese for his sound mixing and Matthew Datcher for directing audio throughout the film," said Dunbar.

Movie Theater Magic

With Savvy Marketing and Dedication to Community, a Dynamic Business Team Breathes New Life into Leitersburg Cinemas.

Driving past the movie theater on Leitersburg Pike, the clean new façade and bold garnet palette is eye catching among the fields. Stepping through the glass doors, the fresh color is carried over on dramatic accent walls, which set off modern, multipaneled wall art showcasing the original movie marquee. The updated snack bar is faced in corrugated metal panels, a design element that has tastefully replaced the old red carpeting that previously covered the lower portion of the lobby walls. Updated seating — including sleek leather recliners for the VIP theater’s “Dinner & A Movie” nights — offers moviegoers a comfy viewing experience.

One might be tempted to brush off the improvements as merely cosmetic. The building has, after all, been through several wardrobe changes over the past 10 years as management has changed, leaving the public to wonder if subsequent sequels will quickly vanish from the screen. But the latest changes signal the beginning of a blockbuster next act. Under a new business venture — Leitersburg Cinemas, LLC — Rich Daughtridge and Dave Schleigh are breathing new life into the theater, backed by a powerful mix of marketing know-how, dedication to community and willingness to listen to patrons. “Leitersburg is the theater that we went to growing up,” says Dave. “It used to be the staple theater. We all hung out there and went to movies. To be part of a project like that and revive it seemed like a really neat opportunity.”

‘Open Under Construction’
More than five years ago, Rich and Dave joined forces to create High Rock Studios, a venture that has flourished to become an area leader in marketing, design and web development. In reviving Leitersburg Cinemas, the pair have embarked on their most challenging journey yet. The building and land, owned by Ridenour 1994 Family LLP, were put up for auction in March of 2009, but no one made the minimum bid. The last operator, Diamond Cinemas, shut the theater’s doors in October of 2009.
Two and a half years ago, LifeHouse Church East began leasing Leitersburg Cinemas for two Sunday morning services and at one point considered purchasing the building. “They didn’t bid during the auction, but we started having a ‘what if’ conversation about the church cooperating with a business that was here that wanted to turn around Leitersburg Cinemas aesthetically, inside and out,” Rich says. “There were two organizations that if they came together, could enhance the facility again to make it a nice movie theater and a nice place to be on Sunday morning for church.” Rich and Dave made the decision to become that other organization in the equation, and formed Leitersburg Cinemas, LLC.

The relationship so far has resulted in multiple aesthetic improvements, but Rich and Dave are quick to admit that Leitersburg Cinemas is a work in progress. “At this point, we’re just going to chip away at improvements over a 12 to 18 month period,” Rich says. “Now the church meets here in a nicer facility, and we’re operating. We’re trying to do all the little things right and say we’re open ‘under construction’ to make sure everyone knows we’re not done.”

Cooler, Hipper, Cheaper
As if the challenges the property itself presented weren’t difficult enough, the public’s perception of Leitersburg Cinemas as a revolving door theater that keeps opening and closing presented another hurdle. “Luckily, we own and operate High Rock Studios, so we think we know a little about branding,” Rich says with a smile. “Our goal is for everything we produce to be high quality to get the community to understand that Leitersburg Cinemas is getting nicer. We’re not a big corporate giant — Dave and I have sacrificed our family time and poured our guts into this place. We also could not have done it without friends, family and volunteers who came out to help... we’re so grateful for them! We’re locally owned, chipping away at the problems, and we think we’re cooler and hipper and a little bit cheaper — but some of our chairs aren’t nice yet.”

The theater is open, and there are already some special incentives to enhance the brand and give back to the community. The theater recently launched a frequent movie card fund-raiser, which allows nonprofits, schools, groups, sports teams and others to register and pass out frequent movie cards imprinted with the name of the organization. The organization earns $1 every time someone goes to a movie and uses the card. Moviegoers benefit, too — they receive free popcorn on their fifth visit and a free movie when their card is filled. “It has always been our vision to impact the community and offer affordable entertainment for residents,” Rich says. “This program offers the best of both worlds — and it’s grass-roots marketing.”

“Dinner & A Movie” nights are yet another example of inventive entertainment. Guests enjoy live music in the lobby before going into one of two theaters outfitted with luxurious leather recliners. Local restaurants ranging from Hempen Hill BBQ to Nick’s Airport Inn cater the meal, which is served on a table that fastens to the recliner. Another new feature — Retro Nights — offers screenings of classics ranging from “The Goonies” to “Miracle on 34th Street.”

Team Leitersburg
The movie theater industry has been a completely new experience for both Rich and Dave, who admit they didn’t know much about popcorn and candy and had to jump in head first to learn about movie schedules. Fortunately, Leitersburg Cinemas, LLC has been able to hire several individuals who are not only familiar with the operation, but have worked at the theater in the past. Jessica Rea, the new general manager, worked at the theater for five years, moving her way up from the snack bar to operations manager. Jessica is excited about the chance to help restore Leitersburg Cinemas to its former glory. “I’ve loved this place for so long and have invested so much physically, emotionally and professionally,” she says. “This is an amazing opportunity, and I wanted to be a part of it. I want to be able to restore that sense of movie theater experience.”

Leitersburg Cinemas Harnesses the Power of Facebook to Reach Movie Fans.

Social media savvy professionals Rich Daughtridge and Dave Schleigh knew that Facebook was going to be a major platform for them when they formed Leitersburg Cinemas, LLC. Armed with the knowledge that their demographic was 14- to 19-year-olds, they were well aware that Facebook is the way to reach teens without spending a ton of money on advertising. They launched the Leitersburg Cinemas’ Facebook page well before the theater re-opened, and it has more than 2,600 fans as of press time.

“It’s been a good tool to get feedback from our customers,” Dave says. “A lot of it has been positive, but some of it has been negative. Whenever we have anything negative we definitely address it. We know we have a lot of work to do but when we get feedback, we address it and let them know that we’re still working on things. If we weren’t tapping into Facebook and Twitter, it would be a one-sided discussion instead of communicating with the folks who are coming out and spending money.”
Rich adds that Facebook is a great way to let fans know about movies and upcoming movie trailers. There have even been polls concerning what kind of candy the theater should sell in the snack bar. Sometimes there’s even a secret word posted on the Facebook page that moviegoers can use to get a free popcorn (hint, hint).

Now your school, non-profit, group or sports team can earn money when friends and family go to the movies at Leitersburg Cinemas. $1 of every movie ticket purchased is donated to the organization indicated on your card. It’s as simple as this:

Step 1: Register your organization
Step 2: Pass out cards to friends and family
Step 3: Friends and family come watch a movie and show their card at the box office
Step 4: We send you a check in the mail

Friends and family will also love the Frequent Movie Card because they receive FREE popcorn on their 5th visit and a FREE movie when their card is filled, not to mention they had a big part in helping support your organization. The program is fun, effective and easy for everyone.

Why is Leitersburg Cinemas doing this?

As a locally owned, independent movie theater, it has always been our vision to impact the community and offer affordable entertainment for residents. This program offers the best of both worlds.

“We are not the corporate giant with all the latest technology in movie entertainment. We are ordinary small business owners who understand the concept of value and affordable entertainment. I guess we just don’t think going to the movies should cost an arm and a leg. We also have kids playing on local sports team and volunteer our time with local non-profits. We have also begun investing in the upgrade of the facilities at Leitersburg Cinemas to make it nicer. As of June of 2010, renovations to the theaters, bathrooms and lobby have been completed. Exterior and interior improvements will continue through 2010 and 2011. In addition to first-run movies, the new Leitersburg Cinemas features "Dinner and a Movie”, Retro Nights, two unique VIP theaters, birthday packages, corporate meeting rooms, and facility rental.

“I grew up going to Leitersburg Cinemas. I went to North High and our friends and I would go to the movies all the time. In middle school, I think I even rode my bike to the theaters a few times!? The Details

- Upon registration, organizations will be given personalized Frequent Movie Cards (FMC) in lots of 500, including “XYZ Organization” on the front. See above.

- Eventually, organizations will also be given a unique web address for temporary FMCs. Once they arrive at the box office, they will be given a permanent card.

- Organizations pass out the customized cards or send their unique web address via email, Facebook, Twitter, etc. We only ask that organizations not distribute FMCs on the Leitersburg Cinemas property.

- When patrons to Leitersburg Cinemas show their FMC and purchase a movie ticket, $1 is donated to the organization. Not valid with any other offers, discounts or FREE movie tickets.

- Organizations receive checks in the mail on or about the 10th of each month for the proceeding month.

- There is no upfront cost to the organizations. $20 for each lot of 500 cards is deducted from the first or future month check(s) to cover the cost of printing and to encourage a realistic quantity for handout.

- The Frequent Movie Cards expire on 12/31/2011

An Example:

XYZ Sports Team registers and requests 500 Frequent Movie Cards. The potential funds raised equals $5,000 (500 cards X 10 movies per card X $1). In the month of October, everyone who received a card from XYZ Sports Team comes to at least 1 movie. Raised funds for the organization is $480… $500 - $20 for (1) lot of cards. XYZ Sports Team receives a check for $480 in the mail on or about November 10th.

That’s just the beginning… more friends and family come to the movies in November and December and each month XYZ Sports Team receives a check. It’s that easy!

The giveaway consists of one (1) grand prize. The grand prize consists of one (1) 16GB first generation Apple iPad. The grand prize is Wi-Fi enabled, but does not have 3G capabilities.

Chances of winning depend on the number of valid entries.

Upon the closure of the entry period one (1) grand prize winner will be chosen at random by an employee or representative of Leitersburg Cinemas LLC.

The giveaway winner will be contacted within forty-eight (48) hours of the drawing via either phone or e-mail.

The first name only of the winning contestant will be posted on www.facebook.com/leitersburgcinemas in a congratulatory post.

The winning contestant will have a one (1) week period from the date of contact to claim their prize.

If the chosen winner fails to claim their prize within the allotted time frame a new winner will be chosen at random by an employee or representative of Leitersburg Cinemas LLC.
