Advertise with Leitersburg Cinemas in September

This summer has been a record-breaking summer for Leitersburg Cinemas!

July of 2013 turned out to be the busiest month in the history of Leitersburg Cinemas. With nearly 34,000 tickets sold, we know our advertisers had some great exposure for their respective businesses/events/organizations.

Some highlights for the Fall:

- Dinner & a Movie is back and starting again on Saturday, August 31st featuring “Lee Daniel's The Butler".  Food will be provided by Barefoot Bernie’s. Demand is high, so tickets are expected to sell out!

- We started Bring Your Baby (BYB) Movies this month. With the sound turned down and the lights only dimmed, the baby-friendly setting is a way for parents to enjoy going out to the movies and crying babies are okay! A different movie is selected each Wednesday at 10:30 AM. Our first BYB movie attracted over 100 people (including babies). We expect this to gain popularity as more people hear about it!

- We also added a permanent pre-noon movie every Wednesday to offer the community another $5.50 movie option during the week. The price includes VIP showtimes. These have been very popular on Saturdays.

We also wanted to put on your radar a new option for video advertising at Leitersburg Cinemas.  Ending the run of national ads allowed us to create 4 slots for premium advertising at or after the start time of the feature (before the previews).  These will be 30-second videos just before the movie trailers begin. We have 3 premium ad spots available for September at $500 per month instead of the regular $400. There are also a few regular spots available in September, but not many.

Leitersburg Cinemas Continues Growth in 2012

Local theater converts to digital projectors and sound; More than 185,000 movie tickets purchased in 2012; Valentine’s Dinner and a Movie sells over 500 tickets; $1 Kids movies planned for summer of 2013

February 24, 2013 [Hagerstown, Maryland]: Continuing to exceed expectations and national averages, Hagerstown-based Leitersburg Cinemas continued their growth in 2012.  Reopened in June of 2010 by Rich Daughtridge and Dave Schleigh, founders of High Rock, Leitersburg Cinemas experienced exponential growth for a second straight year.  The owners attribute the theater’s success to community support, creative marketing, a focus on customer service, value pricing and ongoing facility improvements, including the popular VIP seats.  “We’re grateful for the support we’ve received from the community,” said Andrew Larson, General Manager of Leitersburg Cinemas.  “It’s clear that folks want an affordable movie-going experience in a nice facility.  We’re working hard to offer a great experience and to continue improving. Oh yea, and the VIP seats don’t hurt either?!”

One of the largest facility improvements late last year was the conversion to digital projection equipment and sound in eight of their 10 theaters.  The conversion was in response to film companies switching from 35mm film to digital, requiring all theaters nationwide to convert by the end of 2013.  “We decided to get a jump start on the conversion and are considering plans to convert the last two screens later in 2013,” said Rich Daughtridge.  “The conversion to digital allows us to provide enhanced sound, better picture quality, and ultimately a better movie experience.” Daughtridge noted that, based on feedback they have received, Leitersburg Cinemas will more than likely not be converting any of their screens to 3D in the near future.

As a result of the digital conversion, which was an investment of nearly $1 million by the Cinemas, ticket prices increased slightly on Friday, February 22, 2013.  Ticket prices increased by 50 cents for most options, however, VIP seating after 5 PM will remain the same price at $12.  VIP seating after 5 PM Monday – Thursday, will also now include a FREE popcorn. “After the increase, our prices will range from $5.50 for showtimes before 12 Noon to $12 for VIP seating after 5 pm,” said Schleigh.  “We still offer the best value in the area.”

The owners and managers of Leitersburg Cinemas were pleased in their year-end figures for 2012, with over 185,000 tickets being sold throughout the year. After hitting the lowest attendance in 16 years in 2011, domestic box office sales for 2012 increased by about 5.6% according to moviefone .  Beating the national average, Leitersburg Cinemas number of tickets sold saw a 44% increase in 2012.

One of the most popular features of Leitersburg Cinemas over the past couple of years has been the Dinner and a Movie events, and this past year was no exception. For the Valentine’s Weekend this year, the craze continued. Over 500 combined tickets were sold for events on Thursday, Friday and Saturday night. Guests were greeted to live music in the lobby, a popcorn appetizer and a special Valentine’s dinner served to their VIP seats while they watched one of three featured movies.

Leitersburg Cinemas will soon be announcing their summer schedule of $1 kids movies.  The movies will be screened on select Tuesdays and Wednesdays throughout the summer as a way to provide affordable daytime entertainment for families. During $1 kids movies, popcorn is only $2 and drinks are only $3.

“It’s gratifying to see where Leitersburg Cinemas has come in less than three years. We joke that only one side of the building’s exterior is painted because we ran out of money back in the early renovation phases. Hopefully we’ll get a chance to paint the other walls soon,” said Daughtridge. “We remain grateful to the community for coming out to support a locally-owned movie theater.”

"The Boarder" Movie Coming to Leitersburg Cinemas

Hagerstown, MD July 23, 2012 - Today, award winning author/screenwriter Jane E. Ryan announced her excitement to have the opportunity to bring her movie THE BOARDER to Hagerstown, MD before it hits theatres nationwide.  This is first major motion picture premiere Washington County, MD has ever offered to the public.

There will be 1 showtime of THE BOARDER at Leitersburg Cinemas in Hagerstown, MD on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at 2:00 PM.  The screenings will be followed by a Q/A session with Writer/Executive Producer Jane Elizabeth Ryan, Director Jolene Adams, actor Andy Scott Harris (Carl), along with Dan & Tina Hall.

To order tickets, go to:
2 PM Showtime - click here

Hollywood's young extraordinary star, Andy Scott Harris, plays Carl and appears with Leslie Stevens, Carlton Wilborn and Dee Wallace as Elizabeth. THE BOARDER, an independent, feature film, is the first movie that approaches issues experienced by ever increasing numbers of transplanted, foster or adopted children from a different and fresh perspective. Inspired by true-life events THE BOARDER is the sobering story of the Williams family and the process of learning to cope with an adopted child with a history of early trauma who all-too-soon demonstrates unique and frightening behaviors within the family.

An adoptive mother, Jane Ryan is the author of Broken Spirits Lost Souls, a non-fiction book which offers a clear view of the effects of bonding interruptions due to neglect and/or abuse. Thanks to the success of her first book, Ryan wrote the award-winning screenplay entitled “The Boarder”, and then a novel of the same name, which demonstrates the long-term effects of trauma in early life in a most vivid, personal way - as seen from within the arms of a family desperate to understand and help their disturbed son.

Maryland Foster/Adoptive parents, Dan and Tina Hall of Hagerstown, continue to work with the Ryan Institute for Family Health to bring new and timely information about trauma-based illnesses to the world and to increase awareness about an ultimately preventable and treatable disorder known as Reactive Attachment Disorder (RAD).  After years of searching the Hall’s discovered that their beloved community was sadly lacking in educational opportunities and therapeutic resources needed to identify, support and treat thousands of traumatized children and adults in their county.  The tedious search for information about trauma related disorders came at a huge price for the Hall's, as one of their adopted children suffers from severe post-traumatic stress disorder along with significant attachment issues.

Dan Hall stated, “I remember seeing the teaser (trailer) for THE BOARDER for the first time last fall.  I sat with shivers running up and down my spine and remember thinking, 'Oh my God!, that’s us! We live this movie every day in our house.'  As I wiped away my tears, I was certain that this movie has the power to change lives."  After catching his breath, Hall continued, "You think super heroes don’t exist?  I look at my wife every single day and see how she moves the spirits in our five children. Tina's drive, commitment, and dedication to see the best in everyone touches me every day.  Our daughter with RAD is a true hero!  She reminds us of how vulnerable our children are and what can happen to severely damaged children. Her presence motivates us to find help for her and for families like ours within our community.”

The costs of continuing to close our eyes and to ignore this disorder which is increasing exponentially are extremely painful emotionally, physically, and monetarily.  For families who are learning to love these special needs children, attempting to find the appropriate and gentle care needed for healing is a heart wrenching process. Without the education THE BOARDER provides those interested in children's issues and the therapeutic approach the Ryan Institute for Family Health offers, families will continue to be left in the dark with few options but to put their unmanageable children back into an already flooded foster/adoptive care systems and be penalized by having to pay exorbitant child support while their disturbed youngsters are in care. All are penalties that are exacted from families still suffering are too hard and last too long.
